How To Prepare the Ceremony

  • Step 1: Find a girl, guy, or something in-between that will actually marry you.
  • Step 3: Find yourself a priest to perform the ceremony. A cleric can be substituted if you absolutely cannot find a priest. Staff will NOT perform wedding ceremonies.
  • Step 4: Set a date and time and politely ask a staff member to handle your broadcasts, warpings, and crowd control. This is strictly a voluntary thing for all staff, and many will not, or be unable, to do it for you. Do NOT page a staff member wanting to get married "right now." Try and give as much notice as possible. The cost for a staff member's involvement is 100k gold.
  • Step 5: Decide whether you want a PK, or non-PK wedding. There are two chapels. One is a no-kill room, and the other is not. The difference is that after a PK wedding, all guests engage in a mass murder mosh, usually resulting in the death of the bride and groom. Keep in mind that while you'll get a lot more people to attend a PK wedding, they invariably attract quite a few people that will go out of their way to disrupt your ceremony. Of course, you can have invitation only, private weddings too, if you prefer a more serious affair. If so, have a list of the people you want to attend ready for the staff member handling your wedding.
  • Step 6: Below is the standard wedding ceremony. It is advised that your priest or cleric cut and paste it in sections into macros. Then they can simply hit their macro keys and the ceremony will flow smoothly. This is also true for the couple's vows, but you, of course, can substitute your own vows if you want to personalise them.

Finally...if you are having a PK wedding, and are expecting wedding gifts, it's a good idea to roll yourself a crit or two to hold your gifts and gold. These should not be leveled so they can't be attacked, and staff will warp them to safety after the ceremony so you don't lose everything you just got, lol.

Hope this clears up a few questions for everyone.

Ceremony

Priest: On this joyous day we have gathered to witness the joining of two souls in the Realms of Kaos.

Priest: If any here see these two as not fit to wed each other please speak now, or forever hold your peace.

Priest: And now, if the Bride and Groom would please step forward this joyous ceremony will commence for all in the land to witness.

Priest (to bride): Please repeat after me...I, ______, take thee, ______, to be my husband under the law of the Realms, secure in the knowledge that you will be my confidante and friend, my faithful partner in life and death, and my one and only true love. On this special day of joining, I give to you my hand in marriage, in the presence of The Gods and all present witnesses. My pledge to stay by your side as your faithful and loving wife in both illness and in well being, in happiness and in sorrow, as well as through the good and the bad.

I promise to love you without reservation, comfort you in times of distress, encourage you to achieve every and all goals, laugh with you and cry with you, grow with you in mind and spirit, always be open and honest with you, and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

Bride: Just repeat that, obviously, then give your ring to the groom.

Priest (to groom): Please repeat after me...I, _______, take thee, _______, to be my wife under the laws of the Realms, knowing in my heart that you will be my constant friend, my faithful partner in life, and my one and only true love. On this special day of joining, I give to you my hand and my house in the presence of Gods and all that are present, my pledge to stay by your side as your one and only faithful husband in illness and in health, in happiness and in sorrow, as well as through the good times and the bad.

I promise to love you without reservation, honor and respect you, provide for your needs as best I can, protect you from harm (or Zeffer), comfort you in times of distress, grow with you in mind and spirit, always be open and honest with you, and cherish you for as long as we both shall live.

Groom: Give your ring to your bride after repeating that.

Priest: May Targos bring you new light by day, May Nallyssa softly restore you by night, May Alustria wash away your worries, May Valkyzar blow new strength into your being, And may Hommet be the stone of your relationship guiding you gently through the Realms and know its beauty.

Priest: Then by the power trusted to me by the God/dess (put appropriate priest's divinity god/dess here), I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride, and congratulations to both of you.
