The Newbie Monk Guide

Start out with creating the kind of Monk that YOU want, that you will be happy with. Some people say Hafling others say Half-orc. Honestly it's you who's playing it. So make it what YOU want.

Since that's out of the way we can start with the guide.

You start out in the Terra Tavern with a little bit of gold. Head first to the armour shop and purchase some bound leather armour, DON'T worry about getting a weapon, your hands will do just fine, as a matter of fact, along with the natural AC you get, you also get a BONUS for using a staff or your hands, with one exception being the bound staff, for some reason you don't seem to get the bonus with it. Once you have your armour go to the arena, gain 3 to 4 levels in there then head up and talk to the king. Don't listen to anyone who says "Slap the king he'll reward you" it's lies don't do it. Talk to him though, this is where you get ALL of the Terra Autoquests, good for 2 things at low levels, the all important gold, and experience. Do as many of them as you can, do them with groups if you can, the money and experience is split up equally between the party members. Do this until you get the notice to level then go do so. Head down to Trollheim it's a long treacherous walk but you can do it! have faith! Use the out-posts to regain life.

Once in Trollheim, find your temple then find your guild level up. Congrats you are now a monk, from here on out your life will be fun, annoying, agonizingly slow, but worth it in the end. Hit the arena and level in there until you hit 13-14. Once you've hit 14 you can either step into the world and risk being PK'd, or head off too another arena. Your choice. If you decide to try it out in the world, stay off the beaten track, try and stay with Trolls, Ogres, Orcs, Bandits. It may take a while but you get money and experience, not to mention the chance to explore the world. So you've done it, you are level 14/15, a monk 3 attacks and well, the basic of basic armour. It's not the end of the world. stick to areas around Duskan, Terra, Elmarae, Forestia, and Trollheim, until you've hit 16. Here's where you need gold and some better equipment, even if it's just armour for now. 60,000gold sometimes 50,000gold will get you decked Ant Skin. One of the best armours you will get and it's cheap! Best thing I can suggest for getting money is either the Dire Marsh, killing Dire Panthers, good experience and good money in a couple hour period you can make upwards of 30,000gold. Big chance of being PK'd here, or you can hit up the Elmarae arena, hardly anyone ever comes to this peaceful town, and you can make 30,000gold in the matter of a few hours. No chance of getting PK'd but, the experience isn't that great. When you leave this area, you should be 17/18 Head off to Fort Mordu, again find your temple and your guild.

Once in Fort Mordu you can head off to numerous area's you are a high enough level to try the Circus, Chessboard, Chipper Grove. Good experience in these areas and the money is decent too. Sit around these areas killing everything and anything you can, the circus hit's hard with PKers and the Grove sees it's fair share of meanie's. you can level in these areas until 20/21 then the monsters don't give as good exp, but still decent on the money end. After you've hit these area's I'd suggest heading into the Dwarven mines, awesome experience and great money. You can level up to 25 in this area, might take a while but it's a safe way to do it. Once you have hit 23 and are beginning to think this is taking a really long time. Leave. The only thing worse then dying is wasting time on an area that isn't benefiting you. Head to Lake Tarnok great place to level lots of monsters, sometimes some PKers but it's not all that bad, you can easily hit 25 on the lake.

Congrats, you have now spent 78,000 Gold on levelling to a ninja, you should have plenty of money to cover the cost of at least a Magical staff. Begin your life, saving people, or killing. Again up to you and your personality.
