Introduction
- Class Tiers: Fighter - Monk - Ninja
- Requirements: 16 Str, 16 Agi
- Experience points to level 25: 400 million exp
- Difficulty: Moderate
Formidable fighting machines, Monks have natural armor (+2 ac per level), natural magic resistance, high dodge rate, poison resistance and can equip two weapons at once. Although lacking variety in the armor department, Ninjas with fully blessed and enchanted antskins or a gi will have 98 armor. Monks can equip any weapon, but get a bonus for using a staff or their hands. At level 9 if a Monk successfully lands three attacks in a row, the third attack will launch a flying roundhouse kick that causes up to two times their regular maximum damage. Monks also have the ability to brew Sapphire potions, a highly sought after drink that causes a temporary increase to agility and and nullifies the Druid spell faeriefire during its effect. Sapphire Potions are made of Coffee Beans, Rosemary, and Moon Plant. This class recommended for the offensive or aggressive player.
Skills and Features
- Brew Potion - Monks can brew Sapphire Potions, which give +1 agility and cancel the effects of the Druid spell Faeriefire for a short time.
- Forage - Any class that can brew potions can also forage for the herbs that are used in brewing. These herbs can only be seen by classes that can forage.
- Roundhouse - If a Monk successfully lands 2 hits in a row (armor absorbs still count as a hit) then a third attack will result in a "flying roundhouse." Roundhouses do anywhere from 1.5x to 2x normal damage. If you perform ANY action at all in between any of the 3 attacks the cycle is resetted.
- Magic Resistance - Monks have a higher natural magic resistance that most other classes. The chances of spells "unaffecting" on them is increased significantly. Even Saurian and Half Orc Monks with very low wisdoms can still stand toe to toe with magic users.
- Natural Armor - Due to the lack of armor type equipment that Monks can wear, they have a natural armor bonus. At level 1, you only get +1 armor, from level 2 to 24 you get an additional +2 per level, and at level 25 you get a whopping +4 armor! At level 25 you should have a total of 51 natural armor.
- Meditation - The ability to meditate cleans a Monk's body automatically of poison, thus rendering them immune.
- Dual Wield - Monks have the ability to equip two weapons at one time.Toggle between the two by typing "/tw". Monks can only use one at a time, however, Ninjas can attack 5 times when duel wielding!
Character Templates
The Enlightened Lizard
- Saurian Str:22 Int:10 Agi:22 End:19 Wis:14 Chr:10
The Saurian build has less hp than most others due to its low chr but high strength and agility means you will hit often and hard. Saurians have low magic resistance and even with 14 wis and the monks natural magic resistances will still often fall prey to enchanters.
The Big Hitter
- Half Orc Str:23 Int:10 Agi:19 End:22 Wis:14 Chr:13
With the right equipment this Monk will pack a punch but landing a hit could be a problem. The Half Orc's low wisdom means spell casters may pose a problem.
The Agile Monk
- Halfling Str:18 Int:10 Agi:24 End:17 Wis:15 Chr:20
Halflings high charisma means they receive a good hit point bonus. In conjunction with their high magic resistance and excellent agility, this character will dodge or resist very well. Low strength means they will not hit hard but they will hit often.
Equipment
Monks can equip Cloth Armor and Light Armor, however it is recommended that they wear Light Armor. They cannot use a helm or a shield. Monks receive a bonus to their damage when using some staves in the game. Below is a list of recommended items. For a full list of equipment please see the Equipment page.
