Some tips to keep in mind when trading:

All trades should be moderated by staff to ensure that no one steals/gets ripped off.
The trade window is very helpful for trades involving one item for another, but anything with multiple items/gold/characters can't really be fairly executed using trade windows.
If a deal seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. Especially if the character offering it to you was only created a couple days ago. It may sound ridiculous to assume that everyone is out there trying to screw you over, but many times that may be the truth.
Always remember to check the enchant levels on items while trading. You may be trading for a brilliantly enchanted item only to find out the next day that it was only brightly enchanted. Or possibly the opposite, you may be trading away a brightly enchanted item only to find out the next day that you accidentally traded away the brill one and still have the bright one.
